Suriname – Tax update

Suriname Tax Authority: Digitization of Tax Returns

Starting January 1, 2025, income tax returns for both individuals and companies shall be filed through the online filing portal of the Suriname Tax Authority. This first applies to the provisional income tax return for the year 2025. This initiative is part of the broader digitization of the Tax Authority’s operational processes. Hereunder you will find further background on this matter.

What does this mean for taxpayers?

To access the new online portal, taxpayers must register with the Suriname Tax Authority. It is recommended to register as soon as possible in order to ensure timely filing of the first upcoming filing obligation.

Important information about income tax returns

Provisional income tax return 2025 for individuals and companies:

  • This return must be filed via the online portal by April 15, 2025;
  • Companies with a fiscal year not equal to the calendar year are required to file the return hard-copy;
  • The same requirement applies to companies expecting a lower taxable income in 2025 than in their most recently filed final income tax return.

Income tax returns for 2024 and previous years:

  • Returns for 2024 and prior years must be submitted in hard-copy, even if they are filed in 2025.

Digitization of tax processes

  • The digitization of income tax is the third tax category to be digitalized by the Tax Authority, following the introduction of online VAT in 2023 and Wage Tax and AOV contributions in early 2024.
  • This transition marks an important step toward improving tax administration.
